How the catalog health score works

Every product gets a catalog health score from 0 to 100 that reflects the quality of its catalog data — images, SKUs, pricing, SEO, and more. It's separate from how well the product sells (that's the dead-stock and slow-mover scores).

How the score is calculated

Each product starts at 100. For every distinct issue found on the product, a fixed number of points is deducted once — carrying the same issue on several variants deducts only once. The score can't fall below 0.

The default point deductions are:

Issue Points off
Duplicate SKU 30
Missing SKU 20
Missing image 20
Inventory not tracked 15
Active product with no inventory 15
Missing barcode 10
Missing vendor 5
Missing product type 5
Missing SEO title/description 5

SkuVitals detects more issues than these (for example short titles, missing tags, or zero-priced variants). Those still appear in your issue list so you can fix them, but by default they don't lower the score unless you give them a point value in Settings.

Open any product to see its exact breakdown — the score plus the specific deductions that produced it.

Health bands

The score maps to a band so you can scan your catalog at a glance:

Band Score
Good 90–100
Needs attention 70–89
Poor 40–69
At risk 0–39

Make it your own

In Settings → Catalog health rules you can:

  • Change the points each issue deducts (0–100), or set an issue to 0 to ignore it in the score.
  • Change an issue's severity (critical / high / medium / low) to match how much it matters to your store.

When you save, SkuVitals re-scans and re-scores your catalog with your rules.
